The Human Resources Specialist I provide support for various daily functions across the employee life cycle within the Human Resources (HR) department. This position is often the first point of contact for employees and other visitors. All duties will be performed in alignment with HR processes and in compliance with applicable policies, rules, regulations and laws.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain accurate and up to date human resources files, records and documents
2. Assists candidates, the gaming authority and talent acquisition specialists with pre-employment processing and related events, new hire orientation preparation, issuing ID badges, hiring, onboarding and transfer process.
3. Completes I9 forms accurately, ensuring compliance with laws. Keeps up-to-date on most recent regulations and best practices. Performs periodic audits of records and re-verifications as necessary.
4. Acts as an HR Receptionist welcoming guests, directing them to the appropriate person or providing assistance.
5. Processes purchase orders, sorts mail and maintains office supplies. Keeps the overall office organized and tidy.
6. Provides superior customer service to external candidates and employees at all levels of the organization in alignment with service standards.
7. Monitors, responds promptly and resolves inquiries timely via various platforms such as Workday Help Case Management, in person, by phone or email. Will refer more complex questions to appropriate HR personnel and monitor follow up until resolved.
8. Collaborates with managers and other departments on setting up and maintaining Schedules in Workday and may assist other HR functions in transaction processing.
9. Consistently follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and monitor SOPs for accuracy. Suggest updates or enhancements as needed to work most effectively, efficiently and provide the best experience for all.
10. Consistently comply with all applicable policies, procedures, rules, regulations and laws. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
11. Must complete all required SGC Training programs within the assigned timeframe.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
1. Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
2. High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
3. Associate’s degree preferred.
4. Minimum one-year administrative experience in a Human Resources environment required.
5. Proficient skills in Microsoft office suite or related software
6. Proven ability to prioritize and organize.
7. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
8. Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills
9. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism required.
Language Skills and Reasoning Ability:
1. Must be able to multi-task and have excellent organizational skills.
2. Must possess excellent communication skills.
3. Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
4. Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
5. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
