We're honored to be selected by the Department of Energy to receive up to$22.3 million in investment supporting our Nexcast Mini Mill and other breakthrough projects which will steer the aluminum industry toward a greener, decarbonized future.
 
We are seeking a highly motivated Training and Development Intern to join our team in a manufacturing environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in analyzing job roles, identifying essential skills and knowledge for production workers, and creating impactful training materials. The ideal candidate will play a key part in supporting our commitment to employee growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct job analyses across various departments to identify the tasks, knowledge, and skills required for production roles.
• Collaborate with department leads and employees to gather insights through interviews, observations, participating in some tasks, and surveys.
• Develop and organize training materials, including manuals, presentations, and e-learning content, based on job analysis findings.
• Assist in implementing and evaluating training programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
• Support the creation of standardized onboarding processes for production workers.
• Work closely with the Training and Development Leader to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in training practices.
• Owns 1-2 projects in a specific department that will be focused for the duration of the internship: presents programs and recommendation to leadership and board of directors
 
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Training and Development, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect and interpret qualitative and quantitative data.
• Previous coursework in talent development, psychology, talent management, adult education, or other similar topics
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with training software or tools is a plus.
• Interest in manufacturing environments and employee development.
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
